Carolinians Jazz Band: INFORMATION

Rehearsal: Tuesday, 8:45-9:45AM at Senior Action 50 Directors drive, Greenville, SC

The original Carolinians was founded in the 1940s by Furman Neal and later run by Tom Tzouvelakas and Al Bergman.  Al Bergman was a member of the Upstate Senior Band until his death at age 97. 

The Carolinians was re-established in 2013. We currently have 18 members from the Upstate Senior Band. 7 trumpets (one doubles on flugelhorn), four trombones, four saxes (one doubles on clarinet), a piano, string bass and trap set (drums). Ron Hamilton is the director and occasionally plays clarinet or saxophone solos up front. Many numbers include improvisational sections played by a half dozen or so of the players (one at a time of course).
